We support state-based grassroots, policy, and labor organizations across 35+ states in helping them win integrated coalition, ballot, and legislative campaigns, pass great tax policy, and build community power.

    Position Overview

    The Work

    Operations

    • Manages network communications, including managing new additions to the SRA email list, regular email list maintenance and tagging updates, membership reports, sending emails; 

    • Monitors general SRA email inboxes and forward requests to relevant staff members;

    • Creates and monitors internal systems for tracking and submitting invoices for payment to SPF in a timely manner;

    • Supports SRA’s regranting system, including: monitoring submissions, collecting documentation from grantees, submitting information to legal and accounting, and tracking and collecting reporting;  

    • Works with the Chief of Staff to manage SRA digital infrastructure, including: Google Drive, Slack, and Squarespace website content;

    • Works with the Chief of Staff to manage and support in the creation of internal operations systems as assigned; and

    • Works with the Executive Director and senior staff members to support ongoing strategic planning, organizational assessments, and organizational advancement work. 

    Fund Development 

    • Creates and monitors internal systems and processes associated with grants management, including: maintaining grants tracking systems and schedules; updating and maintaining organizational grant files; and maintaining calendar of all grant deadlines and grant documents; 

    • Supports stewardship efforts by ensuring that relationships between Executive Director, SRA staff, and foundation representatives are built and maintained; 

    • Prepares for project leads outlines and initial drafts of grant proposals and reports using standard SRA language and existing information on grant deliverables and outcomes; and

    • Works with project leads to manage grant proposal and report writing processes, ensuring that proposals, deliverables, and reports for all grants are submitted on time.  

    Events

    • Works with Executive Director and Chief of Staff to support coordination of in-person event logistics for annual and campaign-related events, including vendors, agendas, sponsorship materials, technical and logistic needs, coordination with partners and speakers, and day-of run of show; 

    • Works with Chief of Staff to support coordination of online events; including, creating event registration pages, managing RSVPs, managing email reminders and audience communications, supporting with speaker coordination and day-of zoom logistics and technology management; and

    • Manages special projects as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    • Have 5+ years of experience working on non-profit operational and fund development supports

    • Have a demonstrated commitment to racial equity and intent to support the organization and its partners to be proactive in communicating values of racial equity and develop campaign materials and practices that reflect this

    • Have the ability to develop and authentic relationships with SRA state partners and key stakeholders through 1:1 engagement, group meetings, communication, and follow up

    • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Value working within an organizational culture that prioritizes collaborative decision-making, experimentation, mutual accountability, and adaptive learning

    • Have the ability to receive and give constructive feedback, as well as ‘manage up’ to organizational leadership 

    • Are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude

    • Have the ability to develop and follow a work plan independently

    • Have knowledge of or the ability to learn and utilize platforms such as Action Network, Google Drive, Slack, and Squarespace

    • Have willingness to travel occasionally for conferences, retreats, and partner meetings

    • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of state tax systems and state tax policies, as well as experience working with diverse advocates and coalitions focused on or organizing around tax and other economic security issues

    Compensation/Benefits

    • Compensation for this role is $85,000-$115,000 annual salary depending on experience 

    • Employer pays 90 percent of medical, dental, and vision premiums

    Position Overview

    The Work

    • Provide strategic and technical support to state partners, including provide both short- and long-term campaign planning feedback, strategize on coalition dynamics, draft example resources, and facilitate connections and resource sharing between state partners;

    • Facilitate regular meetings among state partners that encourage information sharing, brainstorming and timely feedback on campaign strategy;

    • Maintain and expand relationships with SRA members and other key stakeholders through proactive engagement and consistent follow-up;

    • Develop outreach materials that make the case for long-term power-building campaigns focused on revenue and tax justice issues;

    • Design and lead learning cohorts, coordinated programs, and trainings for SRA partners;

    • Coordinate the delivery of the full scope of SRA supports to state partners;

    • Lead on providing organizational supports regarding legislator engagement and champion development, including developing tools and template legislative materials, advising on legislative strategy, and providing rapid response assistance;

    • Manage legislative bill tracking of key revenue priorities and provide analysis on themes and trends; and

    • Manage and expand relationships with allied policymaker organizing partners at the state, local, and national levels.

    Qualifications

    • Have 5+ years of experience working on state legislative and electoral campaigns or doing state legislative advocacy

    • Have experience leading diverse coalitions and are familiar with the challenges and possibilities of coordinating a campaign across organizations

    • Have experience working directly with state legislative offices and elected officials

    • Have experience with grassroots organizing including designing programs that encourage the long-term cultivation of volunteers and activists

    • Have a demonstrated commitment to racial equity and intent to support the organization and its partners to be proactive in communicating values of racial equity and develop campaign materials and practices that reflect this

    • Have experience working on tax justice and economic justice issues

    • Have the ability to develop authentic relationships with SRA state partners and key stakeholders through 1:1 engagement, regular communication, and follow up

    • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders

    • Value working within an organizational culture that values collaborative decision-making, experimentation, mutual accountability, and adaptive learning as part of the job

    • Have the ability to give and receive constructive feedback

    • Are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude

    • Have the ability to develop and follow a work plan independently

    • Have willingness to travel occasionally for conferences, retreats, and partner meetings

    • The ideal candidate is familiar with state budget processes, and has led lobbying and advocacy campaigns in the past 

    • The ideal candidate is based in the Mountain or Pacific time zones or has willingness to take meetings during west coast working hours
